Chainsaw Safety

An introduction to the fundamentals of chainsaw use.

  • Practice Lead: John Blyth
  • Duration: The program is typically 2–3 days in length, it may vary due to program logistics, locations, or your needs.
  • Outcomes: Get an introduction to the fundamentals of using a chainsaw.
  • Understand and master the basic skills for chainsaw maintenance.
  • Use a chainsaw safely.
  • Buck wood, cut notches, and carry out other basic chainsaw applications.

The program is designed to introduce you to the fundamentals of chainsaw use, including personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements, maintenance, site safety, bucking, and notches. You will receive a record of completion of the course. The program is intended for people who use chainsaws occasionally at the workplace or at home (as guides, at camps, or for cutting firewood).
