Wilderness First Aid

Wilderness First Aid

We offer Red Cross Advanced Wilderness and Remote First Aid training for remote areas where professional emergency medical services are more than 30 minutes away.

  • Practice Lead: John Blyth & Adam Bathe
  • Duration: This course is 40 hours, more than half of which is spent outdoors in a non-urban setting.
  • Outcomes: Gain the skills to successfully administer first aid in the remote wilderness.
  • Recognize factors that may lead to the need for first aid in remote areas.
  • Provide critical first aid in a remote wilderness setting.
  • Gain decision-making skills critical to stressful wilderness situations.

Together, we will plan an appropriate training course that incorporates the situation, logistics, and environment your employees operate in. We can create scenarios that will mimic remote situations and the possible severity of injuries that participants may experience. For example, additional training in water-based first aid or cold-weather situations may be warranted. Participants will receive a 3-year certification in Advanced Wilderness & Remote First Aid, CPR Level C, and AED.
